So yes, the good news is that A & B will be leaving together with D on Saturday. They are already talking about returning next year which suggests that the house will not be put on the market, niece C will get another chance to come and visit (which we shall enjoy) and everybody will have an opportunity to use the new dishwasher. I guess that realistically everything hinges upon A's health.
