Fish Ticklers Of The World Unite!

Big changes at the Kirkton Weir from Last Week's Update as maintenance work and the installation of the fish ladder continues.

The temporary dam work was completed and this allowed the Fish Ticklers to do their stuff.

The Fish Ticklers, as they have now been christened by us, are onsite to save the fishes that get trapped within the temporary dam area before the water is pumped out to allow work to begin.

How do they do this?  I'm glad you asked...........

They stun the fish with a mild electric shock, "Ouch!" said one fish, the rest were too shocked to say anything. Collect them when they're subdued and transfer them back into the main body of the river.

"That wis a major anti-climax", claimed Big Tam the Digger Man, "Ah wis hopin' for sumfin a bit mair excitin' and the fish wurnae up tae much aithir".

No need to ask what Tam was having for his dinner tonight.......with chips, sauce or vinegar dependent on his East/West leanings!
