Friends all over the world are writing to me on Facebook from places like Brazil and Cyprus, muttering about the heat...

Here, in northern Buckinghamshire, we have autumnal weather - as you can see.

Not a very inspiring or laudable blip, but it's what I saw, from behind the safety of a car windscreen.
