ABSTRACT THURSDAY: SURPRISE

Although I've done a small amount of tinkering about with this photo, the surprise is that the colourful bit in the middle is pretty much as Nature created it. This is a 'Blue Rain' Bromeliad plant, which surprised me with its highly unusual and striking spiky bloom as I sauntered around a local garden centre. I'm working on persuading Mum to speak to the GP about her deteriorating legs. The numbness and pain seem to be accelerating more quickly in recent weeks, and over the past two years have spread upwards from her toes to halfway above the knees. It's all very worrying, and if she ends up not being able to walk at all I'm not sure how, or even if, we'll cope.
