An ordinary life....

Short Cut!

Why bother going round when you can go through?

We have learned that when calling Lola to come to the kitchen, instead of going round things, she prefers to go through them (or over.  If she could bound right over the top of the sofa she would.  Watch this space!!)

The shelf on the lamp table is just the right height for stepping on and using it as a short cut.  It's also good for putting her chew toys on and playing with them.  She's even been knows to stick Goldie on the shelf and us her as a raised pillow for a snooze.  But THE BEST purpose for the shelf, is for chewing on.

There's a lovely lady called Shona who I met thorough work a number of years ago.  She lives five minuted away and trains puppies for an organisation who provide therapy dogs to adults with physical disabilities.  She doesn't have a puppy at the moment so was mad keen to meet Lola.

To my delight Lola behaved herself beautifully.  Shona was totally bowled over by how placid and friendly she is.  Had a really useful conversation with Shona about training.  She gave us a few tips and they are already paying off.

I had intended to pick Shona's brains re. local dog sitters / walkers and was surprised to find out Shona does this too as well as doggy sit in her own house or the dog's house.  I immediately asked if she had any capacity for another dog and she does!  She's also going to do some training with us and be there for advice and back up.  I am over the moon :-)

Lola is a fast learner though (she sits beautifully waiting for her treat.  I've explained to her now she doesn't get a treat every time she sits, sometime it's just a tummy tickle.  She loves her cuddles though and I can see me this time next year with a 50kg dog wanting a cuddle on my lap.  Not that I'd  be complaining! :D  She's also going to outgrow that table fairly soon!

In other news, can't believe tomorrow is 1st September!
