September Scene

As the weather was pleasant again today, I prevailed upon Mr PB to drive me out to one of our favourite local spots - the place where the water voles live - for a bit of a walk. It was the ideal spot - a good, even, fairly level path with benches every few yards. With the assistance of these, I managed 0.8 miles, which I was pleased with - something to build on. The fields that on our last visit had been alive with Lapwing, Snipe, Curlew, Meadow Pipits and Mistle Thrush were today largely empty of birds - just a few Swallows swooping across, no doubt gathering a final meal before embarking on their epic migration, and the odd pheasant. There were a few butterflies along the path side, and we did catch a fleeting glimpse of one of the Water Voles as it scuttled and swam along the conduit. It started to cloud over and cool a little, so we headed back.
