Today marks the one week point before the first prosecution of an 86 year old Northern Ireland Veteran. He is on trial for an incident that took place almost half a century ago.
Unlike Republican Terrorists, many of whom were 'wanted' in connection with bombings and shootings resulting in the loss of hundreds of lives, British Service Personnel were not offered 'Comfort Letters' by Tony Blair promising immunity from prosecution, regardless of the crime(s), for all time.
Today's photograph is of one of the Royal Navy's N. Ireland Squadron patrol craft, a reminder that it was not only the Army that fought 'The Long War.
