In spate

Had to drop something off at the allotments this morning and, luckily, it wasn't raining when I detoured there on my way to work. But it had been raining overnight and the river was up high.

There's also a Himalayan Balsam plant in shot (my nemesis). I decided not to climb down the bank to uproot it in case I slipped and got swept out to sea. Revenge of the balsam.

From there to work: up and onto the canal path, and it couldn't be more different. Calm water and a barge sedately moving along.
