Cleaning Up, Moving Out, Moving In

Miss Flum received the keys to her new house three weeks ago but, as it had been unoccupied for a couple of years, it needs freshening up and a bit of redecorating before she moves in. Having decided on a plan of action, we started by giving the carpet a deep clean. Those of delicate constitution stop reading now.

Actually, we started by removing the large deposits of poo in the garden, mainly from one place, but which are being replaced on a daily basis - large enough for dog but more probably cat if it's the size of a small tiger. Anyway,  suggestions for effective deterrent will be gratefully received.
A search on the interweb recommended a variety of remedies; so far we have tried Olbas Oil (useless) and are now scattering orange peel. Though the effect is short-lived, I have discovered a good supply of peel from the juice machine at a local garden centre so if its persistence the beast wants, it shall have it.
