Queensferry Crossing

Today's the day ......................... to bridge the gap

We weren't fortunate enough to be one of the lucky people that got to cross the new bridge over the Firth of Forth on foot, prior to its official opening on Monday - but we thought we would go and have a look at it anyway.

You could have applied for (free) tickets and walked across today in the company of Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland.  It was so over-subscribed that apparently they are going to have an extra walk tomorrow but after it opens it will only be vehicles that go across.  The Queensferry Crossing is a three-tower cable-stayed bridge, with an overall length of 1.7 miles.  

It really is a most beautiful and worthy addition to the bridges crossing the Firth of Forth, joining the existing road suspension bridge and the iconic railway bridge.  The extra shows all three ......................
