Those Were The Days

This is what I looked like in the Fall of 2001 when I appeared on the TV game show "To Tell The Truth." Footage from the show are included in a new documentary film I appear in, and it's still quite amusing to me when I see it.

The show's producer contacted me in the Spring and we made agreements, then I waited for the flights to be booked. I was puzzled when they went silent without explanation. Then came the attacks of 9/11.

The preoducer rang me a few days later. "My boss is giving me more freedom to bring on more unusual guests., so we want to fly you in this week!"

"How about that," I said. "I assumed it had more to do with everyone (including talk show guests) being afraid to get on a plane --except nuts like me."

The airport terminals were deserted and the jumbo jets were loaded down with a dozen passengers each. I had a very nice time doing the show (even winning prize money) and visiting a few LA friends. It's fun to remember all this.
