Seems Like Yesterday
45 years ago today I married my friend and heart throb. The day wasn't as nice as today was but I don't think we even noticed. It was a big celebration, mostly planned by my mother. I was the last to get married and the easiest to please so she did it her way. It was a great day filled with lots of memories and often we wondered if it's what kept us together through all those "difficult" years - how could we tell her it wasn't going to work? It was pretty low key this year - an antique car show, a lovely walk around this Pond and a delicious dinner where our waiter was the uncle of one of Sumner's childhood friends. We hadn't seen Rip in 20 years, but that's a name you don't forget. He lived at home, sort of and his mom always had the girls over to her big Victorian house where there was a huge trunk filled with "dress up" clothes. Every afternoon about 4 was cocktail hour and her friends would stop by, fire in the fireplace in winter in the drawing room, warmer months at the pool or on the front porch. Lovely times. Macy (his niece) has also struggled with addiction and she seems to be on the upside of it now. They were both so precocious as little ones, a good match for each other. Sumner and Macy hadn't seen each other since they were about 6 and met up coincidentally just before she passed.
