Somnolent

Plenty of boring old flowers in the garden after our week away.  However, when I turned round after doing the washing up and saw this it made me smile ... Blip!  It cannot be quite comfortable sharing your bed with a butternut squash, he soon moved on.


Seeing him asleep like this reminded me of this classic poem by Marriot Edgar about a rather bigger cat - the relevant verse is reproduced below.  Of course it is best known as one of Stanley Holloway's classic monologues


There were one great big Lion called Wallace;
His nose were all covered with scars-
He lay in a somnolent posture,
With the side of his face on the bars.
