A perfect Bank Holiday

After yesterday's exertions, today was a time to relax and enjoy the last of the summer heat in the garden. I made a quick trip to Waitrose to buy food for a barbecue, but also ended up buying a gorgeous new Rudbeckia called 'Summer Brown', which reminded me of the ones I'd seen in London yesterday. Unfortunately I didn't think to photograph it until it was nearly dark!

I prepared a few salads and then we all chilled in the shade, no doubt helped by a large jugful of Pimms, while Alex tended to the barbecue. He really excels at any cooking that involves fire! It was a lovely contrast to the rather hectic previous days.
