Nø 18 in the local thoughts series

While I consider this to be an overstatement, the sense that the world is being dominated by multinational corporations, whose sole purpose appears to be maximising their profits and their share price is widely shared. Their control over those elected by the people to represent them makes me shudder.

In this morning's NZ Herald was a very "reasonable" opinion piece by a representative of the pharmaceutical industry arguing that NZ should not fear the demand of Big Pharma to include their products in a Free Trade Agreement with the USA.

There is NO intention in the US to allow free access by NZ of our products, and so I fail to see what we would gain by an agreement that allows their corporations to not just access our market as they chose, but also to sue the Government if it attempts any control of that.
