Gartloch
Back blip - yes, I'm behind with my posts again!
I had planned to visit Bishop Loch a few days ago, but got side-tracked by the nearby attraction of Provan Hall. Well, today I made it and had a pleasant, short wander in this Forestry Commission Local Nature Reserve.
As the area immediately around the loch is an urban wetland, one can't get very close to it. However, the path does give good views over the loch and towards the former Gartloch Hospital. Opened in 1889, this hospital handled patients with psychiatric conditions until its closure in 1996. The administration block with the twin towers is a listed building and, unfortunately, is still derelict although other parts of the former hospital site have been redeveloped.
