THE SIEGE OF YORK

Back in 1644 - York was under siege during the English Civil War, it is again under siege due to the flooding of the River Ouse, which flows right through the city centre.

My blip shows another look at the Guildhall (see 15th September) but this time the water level is so high that certain roads in the city are closed causing access to many places rather difficult, and in some cases impossible. Unfortunately, many businesses are now under several feet of water.

Lets hope that we get some decent weather so these people can clear up after the carnage and get back to normal.
