Cote de Granit Rose

We are staying for the next two days in Ploumanac'h on the spectacular Cote de Granit Rose. On the cliff top path a German film crew were doing something or other.  However, they didn't seem to like being photographed, which I found just a little hypocritical.

The Ploumanac'h lighthouse (officially the Mean Ruz lighthouse) is an active lighthouse, closed to the public. It is built of pink granite and marks the entrance to the port. The first lighthouse here, built in 1860, was destroyed in 1944, and replaced by the current lighthouse in 1946.  The lighthouse gets its common name from Ploumanac'h, meaning “monk's pool” in Breton. The official name of “Mean Ruz” comes from the Breton phrase Maen Ruz, meaning “red stone”.
