The Golden Orb.....

I am reposting another photo of the Golden Orb....    It has grown to a very large size, one of the biggest I have ever seen.   Shortly, it will lay it's eggs for next summer and then die.
     Loose Cannon has also posted an Orb today, the similarities are striking.  I wonder if they are from the same genus, family of spiders.  The Golden Orb does not bite, but rather dines on bugs.  This one has had a fine summer of meals, especially with all of the rain we have had.  
      The extra is a BW still life of the Orb, in the sun against the white of my car.
