Half-timbered.

I think that's what you call this style of housebuilding. There are plenty of examples in Lichfield, which is where we are passing the night. None quite square, and quite eye-boggling if you stare for too long.

 I'm in a similar state after hours of driving through mist and rain and roadworks. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
