Signs of the Times

Today, I visited the Neon Museum in Las Vegas, featuring all kinds of iconic signs that used to grace the city's streets.

It was lovely how our guide was able to tell fascinating background stories about many of these old relics.

And seeing photographs of the signs in their heyday made our encounter with them today all the more powerful.

As we toured the site the wind whipped up dramatically and there was a danger the whole visit would have to be abandoned because of safety concerns. But it continued to the end - albeit against a dramatic backdrop of forked lightning in the distance.
