Llanerchaeron

Cross country "hike" to Shrewsbury today, from Manorbier over the Preseli's to the coast and up through Aberaeron before turning inland at Aberystwyth. Beautiful coastal route and we were escorted part of the way by Red Kites, fantastic sight over the coast road. I've seen plenty of them inland but this was my first view of them at the coast. A brief detour inland to Llanerchaeron, the 18th C Nash designed country house, for lunch before heading off for Newtown, our afternoon stop for coffee. Quite quiet by the time we arrived at 3.30pm. Busy in the morning we were told but so many shops had closed for the day it had a strange feel to it, ghost town. The drive through mid-Wales is stunning of course and we arrive in good time for dinner with E. It's been a long journey but the varied landscape along the way has been tremendous.
