An affair of the heart

This beautiful prayer book was a gift of my paternal grandfather to my grandmother on their wedding day in January 1911. It rests on a beautiful wooden jewellery box which, on its lid, is inlaid a brass roundel with her initials.
The notes on the frontispiece tell the bones of their growing family story.
May Winifred East(nee Comber) died in 1918 at 35, of the Spanish 'flu when my father Richard was 5 years old. My grandfather was away at the war and didn't learn of his wife's death till 3 weeks after the event.
