The accidental finding

By woodpeckers

Hey diddle diddle

I witnessed an extraordinary sight this morning. Sadly my camera was not with me.

As I was passing a row of garages in a back street, I saw a black cat lazing on the tarmac. Out of the corner of its eye it was watching a hedgehog walking past, close to the garage doors. The hedgehog had very long legs. Both seemed entirely unperturbed by each other.

Prior to this point, I had not seen a hedgehog in the wild for thirty years! Naturally I was very excited. TML has seen one in our street, and our neighbour says that we share one between both our gardens, but this was the first sighting for me.

On the way back from town, I checked to see if anyone had been putting out food for the wildlife, but there was no sign of this. Both creatures had disappeared.

I am thankful for this little encounter, and have tried unsuccessfully to recreate the scene at home. Who was it that said Never work with children or animals?

Blip tells me that today is a blipversary for me. I guess it's my official five years, because I started in July 2012 and have missed a few. Would that I could bring you the actual cat and hedgehog scene! Close your eyes and imagine...

Thanks to all who watch, read and comment. You are part of the reason that I carry on blipping. All the friends I've met here, online and out there, I salute you!
