Pigeon Post

An update on my racing pigeon.  I obeyed to the letter the instructions I had about not feeding it (after the initial pit stop) and trying to shoo it away.  It wouldn't go anywhere. The poor thing was hanging around under the bird feeder, clearly very hungry.  In the end I had to give in and feed it.  Plan B is to try and get near enough to catch it and then find out who the owner is.  The jury seems to be out on whether lost pigeons are at risk of having their necks broken.  I think it depends on the value of the bird and the temperament of the owner.  BB's owner (short for Bird Brain: it's obviously led a sheltered life and has no survival skills) will have to travel some distance as there are apparently no pigeon fanciers in Bournemouth.  That might affect his temper as well as his temperament. If the bird is likely to be killed I'll keep it, but first catch your bird . . .
