Enclosure

Quite possibly this parcel of the Meadows Yard Local Nature Reserve was sold to the owner of the house backing on to it so they could expand their garden but it has the look of something a little more clandestine. A few of the houses along the edge of the reserve seem to have done the same. And to be fair they have made a lot or the extra space, at least from what you can see through the gaps in the fence. But however it was done, legally or not, it still represents creeping privatisation of the public - a trend that appears all too common across Portobello, and the rest of Edinburgh at the moment. Went along this evening to hear a short talk about the 'mythical creature' sculptures that have been installed as part of the Art Walk. Well with a visit as the Art Walk continues until Sunday.
