There's a word for them, my brother knows it, but I have forgotten what it is.
Two years ago a raging torrent passed through here bringing with it; mud, rocks, shopping trolleys and refuse, devastating this hotel. Now they are putting up a barricade in the hope of preventing a repeat.
A barricade against an act of God.
