Brighter than The Sun

Roper Hall has had a facelift - one that's hard not to notice even on a grey Lancashire day. Built in 1874 as a Roman Catholic boys' school, it's now a student pub run by the Scream chain, with the emphasis on standup comedy and cheap drink promotions. I guess there are many kinds of enlightenment.

The Sun is an Irish pub. Last St Patrick's Day, a Saturday, the customers were already spilling over the pavement by 4.oo in the afternoon.
