Esthwaite Water near Hawkshead.
We have enjoyed a very busy Saturday. The weather has been mostly sunny with some rain showers.
First to Accrington to the optician and a small fortune was spent on varifocals. I have a 30 day period to see if they are what works for me.
I took a bag of my hand knitted scarves to the RSPCA charity shop and hope they will keep several people warm this Winter.
The Arndale roof is leaking terribly and the floor is full of puddles and yellow cones alerting people to the danger. I hope someone invests in repairing it soon as it is off putting to shoppers.
Then we drove to the caravan to drop off the keys for the next person holidaying there. I found a leaflet in the reception area about Esthwaite, and all the wildlife it is possible to see there. Alas, the osprey family had already migrated at the end of August.
They can view several small garden birds such as chaffinches, blue tits, and robins, along with nuthatch, treecreepers, buzzards, kingfishers and
woodpeckers. There is a guided tour by an experienced wildlife photographer, but we will go again in the Spring for that experience.
There was a group of Scots doing a fishing competition and the café lady and her husband had been making them breakfast from 7:30am, bless her! Haggis was on the menu, but Paul had a full cooked breakfast with black pudding!
Then we drove to Blackburn to buy some trainers for Paul's birthday present, but they did not have his size.
A beard trimmer is now the choice for my present to him.
Having a coffee and a rest before Mass at 5:45pm.
