Cheetah

Today we went to an elephant sanctuary, where we were able to touch elephants and even walk with them holding their trunk!!  We learnt all about how thick the skin is in different places on the body, felt the soft skin behind the ears, which gets hot when they are hot and they flap the ears to cool down and lots more.
We also went to a 'wild cat' sanctury where there were all sorts of wild cats including 2 cheetahs ( one of whom was an insulin dependent diabetic on 2 injections of insulin a day!!), a leopard (photographed in one of the extras) and a lion and lioness. We were able to photograph them all but were actually able to walk in with the cheetahs (with 2 guides) it was AMAZING!
We also went to the largest bird aviary in the world. Some of the birds there had been pets. There was a pair of Indian ring necked parakeets ( also in the extras) who were always together. My husband was waiting for me to take photos and he started looking up what these birds were. They became very interested in his book and started looking at the pictures of birds like themselves . Then one started saying 'who's a pretty boy then' looked at the other one and said 'hello, who's a pretty boy' !  They kept it up for some time and it was hilarious. I took a video so we have had lots of fun watching it!
