Red Rock Mud Run

Today was the day of the Red Rock Mud Run which is in aid of the Devon Air Ambulance. Many brave or maybe foolhardy souls run from the Coombe Cellars side of the river across to the little tree at Red Rock and back again. I was surprised by several things, firstly that they didn't get as muddy as I'd expected, secondly that many fairly small people were able to do it. The lead runner set out strongly and took a convincing lead (you can see him on his return journey towards the right of the blip.

The forecast today was pretty grim for the afternoon but it looked quite bright while I was down there. A shower blew through just before the start but fortunately was soon gone.

I've chosen this one because I think it shows the challenge they all took on
but there are lots more including the  start and the lead runner striding out here

On the weather forecast yesterday we heard that it might be possible to see the aurora borealis in Devon so headed up to Haytor to see if we could see it. We waited a while but as the moon rose it was plain that there'd be no chance so we headed home again a bit before midnight. It was worth a try.
