National Lacemaking Day

Not only was it Heritage day today, but also National Lacemaking Day - as a group we decided to join together at the Museum for Rural Life in Reading.

Having lived about 15 miles from Reading for 34 years I am ashamed to say I have never visited this museum until today. It's lovely, interaction parts for children, very informative and just next door to Royal Berkshire Hospital.

Today 4 of the members of North Downs Lacemakers went to demonstrate lace there. The display of lace is a mixture of stunning work from our members as well as some lace borrowed from The Lace Guild. We had quite a few people "have a go" - you get a sticker for this! :)

Lovely day.
