14th Century Spirits in Northampton
Buildings not usually open to the public are open for visits on National Heritage Open Days throughout the UK.
I took a tour of Northampton & County Club, central Northampton. All you see from the street is one rather noble front entrance. Inside is a massive building dating from the 14th century, with parts added over the centuries. The pic is of part of the vaulted cellars, part of a network of passageways and tunnels rumoured to link up with labyrinths running under many of the old buildings of central Northampton. Of course, these cellars are haunted, though the only spirits I saw today were the bottles of alcohol stored there.
