Lighthouse Staircase
Designed to house the Glasgow Herald newspaper in 1895 this was Charles Rennie Mackintosh's first public commission. It's now an arts centre. This spiral staircase is in the tower that used to house the 8000 gallon water tank that for use in case of fire. It's a fair climb to the viewing plaform at the top, but well worth it for the magnificent views of the city. I set my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ20 pocket camera to take 3 exposures at different shutter speeds and laid it on the floor with the self-timer activated. I joined the 3 images on the computer to get detail in the highlights as well as the shadows - a process known as High Dynamic Range.
