Hiking Fever
Today was the monthly hike with my ladies hiking group...the first one I have attended since March as I was not home for the hike in April and then it was summer which is way too hot for me to hike. So today six of us showed up at the state park which is about 2 hours away from me. The weather was perfect for morning hiking, cool and dry. Of course, some people were late arriving so we were an hour behind getting started on the hike but we were still okay for our time frame. It was a nice trail through the woods and by a creek, shady most of the time by the tree canopy. We did pass horses several times as this park has a large horse stable and riding facilities. This is my hiking buddies Candi and Phyllis stepping aside to let the horses pass.
Our hike was supposed to be around 5 miles which is a pretty good couple of hours. But we girls just kept on hiking to end up with 10 miles! My feet are really talking to me! I feel like I might be a little wobbly in the morning! Time for a hot soak in the tub!
It was a good day and we managed to not talk about Irma all day. All of us have someone we know who remained in Florida. Unless something changes in the current path, my area will not be affected so much as the weather people first thought. Since Irma moved westerly, my uncle and my cousins are in the area along the western shore near Tampa where they are calling for the worst. Keep the Florida people in your thoughts! Blippers in Florida, sending love, hugs and prayers for your safety!
