Route 66

I've been following some of the old Route 66 through Arizona and California, photographing abandoned cafes and gas stations, plus other interesting places.

It's fascinating how a simple road can acquire a kind of magic - the locals certainly have that view of it. I guess it comes down to nostalgia for its Fifties heyday and the lifestyle of those times, plus the fact it has its own soundtrack in Bobby Troup's classic song.
