Tailgate Tale

Earlier in the year (Feb/March) I reversed into a metal post at Etherow Country Park - my fault - stupid - should have looked where I was going.

It was a nasty little dint mostly affecting a real side panel but unfortunately the tailgate was very slightly damaged as well and picked up paint fron the post.

I decided I could live with it !

Three weeks ago I decided I could live with it no longer - got a quote and booked it in to be repaired.

As you can see they did a lovely job and this is taken before the rear badges were replaced - I nearly said don't bother - it does look better without them but it was about getting it back to its original state so the badges are back on now.

The twist in the tale , now resolved, is that I drove the car away from the garage all OK but later that evening when returning to use the car....

I got in started the engine and put my foot on the brake pedal ( I always like to see that the brakes work before setting off) and as I released the pedal - the tailgate lock operated opening the lock !!!!

Just a wee bit spooky - poltergeist ?

No apparently just a bit of moisture that had got into an electrical junction block - WD40 was the solution !

Thanks to the staff at Prestige Motor Bodies Glossop for a fine repair, a great bit of detective work, Oh yes and a few squirts of WD40
