For the love of running
I think the perfect motivation for a half marathon is watching Mo Farah win a half marathon just before you leave for the race.
I think the worst start you can make to a race is being soaking before you even start and panicking that you're never going to wee in time to make the start.
Despite the stressful start and despite the relentless rain through the majority of the 13.1 miles, today's race was one of my faves. I kept looking at my watch for my pace and wondering if I was going too fast and was going to pay for it later but thankfully, I managed to keep it up. At one point the weather got so bad that you couldn't even see over to the other side of the lake and my shoes were properly squelching. Still, it was beautiful to be running in such a stunning location and everything went right for me on the day. I even put in a sprint finish with a ridiculous smile on my face and even shouting a bit of a 'come on!' to myself as I crossed the line.
No official time yet but I think I finished in around 2.05 which smashes my old PB by a solid 5 mins. I know people achieve far more incredible feats on a daily basis, but I can't help but be very proud of myself today.
