Rainbow's end
This glorious arc waited just off Gourock this evening as we sailed for home on the ferry after a great gig in the Cathedral of The Isles on Cumbrae. We were all euphoric: the stress of catching ferries despite wind and rain and strange crowds at both ferries (why? where were they all going in this weather??) and having to run from church before the final hymn (taking the organist with us) - all that stress had actually landed us there in time to run through the Schubert with the pianist, recover our cool, and give one of our best ever concerts in one of my favourite places.
People praised our unanimity, our sound, our programme. By the end of over an hour's singing, on our feet, with no interval, several of us were light-headed and ready for our tea and cake, but it's a great thing, performing, and gives a lift like no other.
And then the sun came out ...
