National Day of Catalonia

Our neighbours, Mercé and Ferran, were heading out to a popular demonstration to celebrate the above and voice their support, en masse, for independence. It's been quite a week here with a referendum on independence being set in for 1st October without central government support. My head has been spinning with all the legal manoeuvrings and consequences threatened. Goodness how it will end up. Worst case, the army will come onto the streets to keep order and prevent the referendum taking place. Hopefully, voices of moderation will intervene beforehand to prevent that unedifying outcome.
