Last day!
Our last morning safari... and it was a special one. We checked in on the elephants and rhinos, saw zebras again - they've been quite elusive, and even TJ can't get close to them before they scamper off. We had morning coffee by the waterhole, and there was a crocodile sunning itself out on the opposite bank. My lens couldn't quite get a good enough shot, but really, that was the only time I felt my amateur gear wasn't quite up to it - we got so close to the animals. The baby and two female hippos were frolicking about in this 'maternity pool'. The mothers come to have their babies there, and if it's a male baby, it has to stay there with the mother much longer, as it would be killed by the dominant male if it went to join the 'pod' too soon.
And - very exciting - we came across three young male giraffes, and they were fighting, though not as viciously as this. I was very excited to be able to video this behaviour before heading back for breakfast.
After breakfast we set off on the six hour drive back (this time with air con in the car) and got to the airport in time. Phew.
And so ended our wonderful safari holiday. Yes, the visa hassles and missing the flight debacle are long forgotten and only good memories of the best holiday ever. And now to re-live it by editing the hundreds of photos and videos.
We're already planning a return visit!
