The importance of being idle
At home listening to Elbow Build a Rocket Boys Album. Washing up, bottle wash and clean sheets can wait. Below is an extract from a friends farewell letter to me that shares my sentiment today as I enjoy my time off work with my baby. Enjoy your weekend x
For me 'everything's changed' (Aqualung). 'Don't get me wrong' (the Pretenders), 'I don't hate' (Plan B) my work. 'it was all I ever wanted' (Kirsty McColl). 'It was a place I called home' (P.J. Harvey) and for 10 years 'I never crossed a picket line' (Billy Brag). 'I would have waited here longer' (lampchop), but, well, 'there comes a time' (Neil Young) where 'change is gonna come' (Otis Reading) and 'everything must change' (Nina Simone)
So now, I will 'drop the pressure' (My.o) and 'understand the importance of being idle' (Oasis)
I will 'wake up' Arcade Fire) where 'everything is in its right place' (Radiohead). 'I'll be on an endless vacation' (Ramones), a 'holiday' (Green Day), 'where the wild roses grow' (Nick Cave) and 'everybodys happy' (Queens of the Stone Age).
Where 'I am free' (Primal Scream), Oh that's 'the trick to life' (The Hoosiers).
'Then' (Charlatans) again, 'I don't know (Star Sailor), 'life could be a pigsty' (Morrisey). I might climb the walls (Radiohead) I might 'fear' (The Doves) the 'cooking' (Scritti Politti) and 'doing the dishes' (Pulp).
But 'I'll be thankful for what I've got' (Massive Attack). 'I believe in love' (Grand Drive) and 'i'll do it' (Lemonheads) 'My way' (Frank Sinatra) 'Each star we see' (Katherine Williams) 'fades away' (Oasis) and gives a 'glorious day' ((Embrace) a 'beautiful day' (U2) 'All I want is the world' (Southside Johny).
It's a wonderful life (Sparklehorse). See You (Foo Fighters)
