A Sting in the Tail
Not a good day generally for someone close to me but seeing the latest TV footage from the Key West area, there are clearly many a lot worse off.
I gather Irma has progressed up the USA bringing "relatively" little damage but still with a sting in its tail and misery to some. Gather it is off-season in the basketball NBA, so the Charlotte Hornets schedule was not affected.
Our local Hornets have been busy this year. Compulsorily evicted from under our roof this spring, they have moved into the garden and possessed one of the bird nesting boxes. And as can be seen, really having a great time. Occasionally one will make a visit to the terrace but so long as we don't bother them, they don't bother us - Live and Let Live as the Bavarian motto goes.
There is a German Band called the Hornets based in Leipzig, claiming to be the smallest Rock & Roll band in the world, who do about 150 gigs a year - old favourites from Elvis, Haley & co being their area.
This evening The Rolling Stones played their 9th gig in Munich's 1972 opened Olympic Stadium to sensational reviews from the press and 70,000 very happy fans. Their 1974 album "It's Only Rock & Roll" was largely done at studios in Munich in 1973 and the single of the same name recorded there. This evening to the dismay of many, they didn't do "Angie" - lucky my Angie didn't go.
Of almost all the bands of that era, I would in 1970 have willingly betted, knowing I was not risking anything, that none of them would be alive by the end of that decade. Truly amazing and just like the fans who had to pay horrendous prices, I would not have minded losing my bet money ...... even though I was more a Beatles type!
So keep on Rocking & Rolling, whatever life throws at you.
