Fallen leaves

One of the horse chestnut trees in the car park at my Bexley gym. It's leaves have changed to autumnal colours but most of them have fallen, probably due to the strong winds last night. The ground is littered with conkers and I feel tempted to collect them. But to what purpose?

Perhaps the metereologists are right after all and autumn did commence on September 1st.

This time last year we were in Broadstairs experiencing a mini heatwave. At 35C it was too hot to sit on the beach. I am still hoping that this years Indian Summer, that we were promised, is on its way.
