The L.N.W.R. Semi-Royal Saloon now at a local curry house carpark. WackyWebs blipped this a week or so again but today I met the owner and had a personal tour and history lesson.
It is the sole surviving carriage of a set of 6 made for the use of King Edward VII's entourage. Built in 1903 it should have been destroyed in 1941 when replacements were built (a tradition apparently) and again in 1971 but a museum bought it. It now appears in films and is looking for a new lease of life.
The extra shows the interior which was originally white enamel which matched the Royal yacht. The interior was once painted green for the filming of a Frankenstein film.
Tomorrow I go on a 2 day trip...
