Grey

I once painted my bedroom the colour of this sky. Battleship Grey it said on the tin. And the woodwork was Pillar Box Red. Paints had simpler, more descriptive names in those days. None of your Deep Fossil or Warm Pewter. And to be honest, it wasn’t even the bedroom. Technically, it was the living room but since there were three boys in a bedroom designed for two and only two parents using a living room designed for a family, someone had the sensible idea of swapping them and I gave myself the job of painting over the forgotten hideous and smoke-stained wallpaper.
