Walk With Her
Rev. Jayna Gieber, who led our meditation on September 10, led another public meditation Tuesday night just prior to the showing of the documentary, Walk With Me. It features Vietnamese Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh and the monastics who live at his meditation center in France.
Thay, as Thich Nhat Hanh's students call him, had a major stroke in 2015 and is no longer able to lead walking meditations. Jayna, like others who have been moved by his teachings and his example, carries on his tradition of leaving peaceful footprints on the earth. As walkers gently circled the park across from the theatre, a cool wind rose and seemed to sweep away the remaining smoke from the forest fires. That's Jayna's granddaughter to her immediate right, and then her daughter and son-in-law.
The main blip pretty much illustrates the energy of the meditative walk, and the Extra is a portrait I made of Jayna as she was ringing the bell to conclude the meditation.
If you have time for some heavy thinking about protests, nonviolence, Antifa, and photography, check out yesterday's blip, posted just minutes before this one.
