Sneaky Peek
This shot belies Miss A's excitement at the prospect of visiting the primary school she will eventually attend. It was all she could talk about from the moment she woke. She was keen to wear her school shoes (handed down from Katie) but we opted for boots as it was a bit of a dreich day. It didn't stop her from planning ahead and she came downstairs wearing her Gruffalo backpack with school shoes squirrelled away within.
Rob and I picked her up from pre-school in the afternoon and when we arrived at school she was skipping merrily and giggling away to herself. If only I'd have taken the shot before she entered the building! Anyway, the Head Teacher gave us and other parents/children a tour of the building, popping into classes here and there. We got to the first floor library where Miss A promptly sat down, removed her boots and delved into her backpack to get her school shoes, sporting a huge grin when she popped them on. As we continued through the school, however, Miss A became quieter and quieter - perhaps a bit overwhelmed. By the time we were on the top floor she asked when we were going home! We ended up leaving just as the kids were finishing for the day so it was a bit tricky taking shots in the playground and I had to opt for an old, battered school doorway for Miss A to stand in. She was in no mood for posing so here it is, Miss A's memento of her first day at school (sort of).
