Care review

An early morning meeting today with Fiona Duncan who is heading up the care review which is being driven by young people with care experience.

Our respective diaries have prevented us meeting before now so it was good the Elliot, my Depute, and Christine our new operations manager were able to join me.

A very helpful discussion understanding both the approach to the review and the likely timescales for action. The "Discovery" phase is now underway and has been engaging a wide range of people - and most importantly children and young people.

The review is "root and branch" which means very wide in scope. As the review progresses there will be opportunities to feed in and be.consulted. The work already being taken forward on "Better Hearings" at national and local level may well resonate with what emerges from the care review: but there may be new challenges for us all to address.

All very exciting and it was good at last to have the first of a number of discussions over the coming year or so.
