This used to be the entrance to the Officers Married Quarters for RAF Swinderby.  The squaddies married quarters were across the fields at the back.

When the RAF pulled the officers quarters were sold off to private buyers and the others were sold to a company who then rented them out, eventually selling some and keeping others.  

In the early 2000's, permission was given to build an estate of new houses on the unused fields between the two. When plans were published, the private owners were up in arms when they found out that the water treatment plant for the new houses was to be built near to their homes. They complained bitterly but the plans weren't changed.

Driving past some time ago I noticed that these gates had been installed. They must have got fed up of people driving through their little estate to get to the new houses. Unfortunately, there is no road through.
